Reefer Madness is a musical satire of the 1935 American cult film Reefer Madness which was originally titled Tell Your Children (and sometimes known as The Burning Question, Dope Addict, Doped Youth and Love Madness).  The film follows the melodramatic events that ensue when high school students are lured by pushers to try marijuana.  The film was originally produced as a morality tale but after being purchased by producer Dwain Esper the film was recut for distribution on the then popular exploitation film circuit.  Since then the film has become a cult classic for all the  wrong reasons and has even been called the worst film ever made.

The book and lyrics were written by Kevin Murphy and the book and music by Dan Studney.   The show opened on Broadway in 2001.  In 2008 the production in Washington DC won two Helen Hayes awards.

The New York production included Christian Campbell as Jimmy and Kristen Bell as Mary. They reprised their roles in the 2005 film version alongside Alan Cumming who played The Lecturer. Christian's sister Neve Campbell also appears in the film which in my opinion is a good, but rather crow-barred in role.
