What's It About
One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest premiered on Broadway in 1963 with Kirk Douglas in the lead.  It was made into as multi-Oscar® award-winning film with Jack Nicholson and Louise Fletcher squaring up as McMurphy and Ratched.

Randle Patrick McMurphy, with his criminal past, is a wildly funny rebel who having gotten into trouble again, feigns insanity in order to finish his prison sentence in a mental ward rather than a hard-labour work farm.  Once there, McMurphy meets the fellow members of the asylum and endures and witnesses the abuse and degradation of the patients by the oppressive Nurse Ratched, who gains superiority and power through exploiting the flaws of the patients. McMurphy squares up to her with frightening consequences.
