CHARACTER LIST - AUDITION INFORMATION
This is the “Play” version, written originally as a studio production. It does however contain one song – “Marilyn Monroe” – sung by Mrs Johnson & Chorus, for which we have the licence. It is set in Liverpool from the 60s to 80s. A gentle Scouse accent would be an advantage for all except Mrs L. and Eddie. Not essential for the Narrators or Chorus. All the characters will have to play a range of ages spanning 20 years. The twins have to be approximately the same age and size but need not look the same.
MRS JOHNSON Natural mother of the twins. Scouse, “working” class, struggling to bring up several kids on very little income. Playing age from 30 to 60. Needs to be able to sing one song.
MRS LYONS Adoptive mother of Eddie. “Upper” class. Obsessed with keeping Eddie away from his background. Playing age from 30 to 60.
MICKEY The twin who stays at home. Playing age from 7 to late 20s.
EDDIE The twin who is adopted. Playing age from 7 to late 20s.
LINDA School friend and eventually wife of Mickey. Playing age from 7 to late 20s.
NARRATOR 1 Male. Acts throughout as Narrator. Also playing milkman and doctor and other small parts from child to adult. Must be versatile.
NARRATOR 2 Female. Acts throughout as Narrator. Also playing other small parts from child to adult. Must be versatile.
CHORUS 1 and 2 1 male + 1 female. Playing small parts from child to adult, including set changes. Must be versatile.
