The Stevenage Lytton Players Autumn 2014 Musical Production was Oh What A Lovely War performed at the Lytton Theatre.

Now staged to commemorate 100 years since its start, this show summarises and comments on the events of the First World War, using popular songs of the time. The diplomatic manoeuvrings of those in authority are parodied by setting them in a fantasy location far from the horror of the trenches. Joan Littlewood’s Theatre Workshop developed the original production through improvisation and it was premiered at the Theatre Royal Stratford East to rave audience reaction 50 years ago in 1963.
